Five For Friday 10/18/13

It’s the last Five For Friday while I’m still 31! I know I am getting older because I just found my first gray eyebrow hair yesterday. Gah! I plucked that baby real fast. I probably can’t blame it on EDS…or can I…???

1. Medical Stuff:

  • 2 Days of treadmill work on my own. Plus weights, balance work, and floor work.
  • 1 Day of PT. I spent most of the session working out on the Alter-G (anti-gravity) treadmill at a higher incline and pace. My PT did some cranial OMM, and also checked to make sure I am firing my scaps and glutes properly.
  • I just have two more days on my antibiotics. I am feeling much more human, or I guess I should say I am back to feeling like my “zebra” self again. That’s a good thing.

1. Medical Stuff:

  • 3 Days of Home Rehab.
  • I saw Larry in the office on Tuesday. Usually I see him once a month for his “magic hands” OMM and to make sure everything with my health is being managed like it should be. However, Larry has been in Belgium and the Netherlands for the last month as the team doctor for the US (at gymnastics worlds), so it had been two months since my last appointment. And boy, how I have missed him. We had a great appointment going over everything I’ve been up to (start of school, PT, prolotherapy, doctor changes, etc). He did a lot of jaw and cranial work on me as we talked, also acting as my shrink at times; talking about pacing, priorities, and life in general. That man wears many hats in my life.  The best way to explain how I feel after seeing him is it feels easy to breathe again with peace and clarity. I am so blessed he is my doctor and my friend. I have no idea where I would be without him.

1. Medical Stuff:

  • I officially returned to physical therapy this week.  We came up with a plan that I will be using the Alter G (anti-gravity treadmill) while sporting my hot compression socks quite a bit more to see if it helps with my overall fatigue and POTS symptoms.  This will be in addition to occasional manipulation/cranial on my head/neck and a LOT of strengthening exercises.
