Just a "zebra" trying my best to live life to the fullest with EDS and POTS...and loving the ride.

1. Medical Stuff:

  • No PT appointments because of parent-teacher conference nights. I was on my own this week.
  • 3 Days of Home Rehab.
  • My ribs were much more cooperative this week. I didn’t have to resort to ace wrapping them into place to survive. Thank. God.
  • I had an OMM appointment. My doctor commented on how “twitchy” my body felt as she worked on me. She explained that that is what it usually feels like when it is in a flare, which made sense to me since I have been flaring quite a bit lately. She made me promise I would get good rest and take time to recover this weekend.

2.  Today, I ended up taking the day off to recover. I don’t do it very often but when the signs are there (blood pooling in my feet, major fatigue, migraines, joint pain, dizziness, insomnia, and heart racing) that I need to slow down, I know that if I don’t listen to my body, then I could be headed for a major disaster. It was probably the best thing I could have done for my health. I slept for twelve hours, went to my appointment, and then spent an hour and a half at Zoe Spa getting a full body massage. My body feels a sense of restfulness I have not felt in a really, really long time. Now, if I could just bottle that up…

3.  Days that end with me coming home to a package like this really makes me stop and realize that no matter my struggles, I really do have it okay. I am blessed to have such support and love in my life. Thank you, Susan for being a part of that (and for your amazing artistic talent). I am so very thankful for you too. xo

4.  On the zebra front, we are checking things off the “to-do” list right and left. T-shirts are done and on their way, the store is ready to be launched, the foundation site has been updated, we are working on sponsorship and silent auction materials for the April 12 benefit, and we are getting closer (hopefully) to announcing our performers for this year’s benefit. Fingers crossed. Now if I could just find more time to write on here…

5. A few more “awesomes”about my week: I made it through parent-teacher conferences in one piece, I got to Skype my nieces twice, I fought for one of my students to receive services I believe he needs (and won), my students and I had a dance party, and MSU beat Kentucky.
