Five For Friday 11/9/12

Spread the love

1.  Medical Stuff:

  • 1 Day of Home Rehab.
  • I had prolotherapy yesterday on my neck, upper back, and ribs.  I’ll do a prolo post later.
  • 1 day of PT~I worked hard on the Reformer.

2.  We had two nights of parent-teacher conferences this week.  On both days, I taught, rushed home, slept for an hour, and went back to meet with parents.  I was pretty worn out by Wednesday night, but it is always worth it…It’s so nice to actually have designated blocks of time to sit down, one-on-one with our amazingly, supportive parents.  After Thursday night of this upcoming week, fall conferences will be complete!

3.  On Sunday, we had a baby shower at Jimmy’s Pub for one of my best friend’s and colleagues, Theresa.  She is due in a month, and I cannot wait to finally meet her baby girl.

The parents-to-be!

We did some bib and onesie decorating.

4.  I saw MADONNA Thursday night with my cousin, Jen.  This has always been something on my bucket list, and I can now happily cross it off.  This experience also needs its own post…It was so unexpected, so memorable, so AMAZING…Here’s a pic until then!

Madonna’s manager took this picture of all of us in the pit (AKA “The Golden Triangle”) I’m in the front row, second one from the left.

5. Today and everyday, I am thankful for…

November 4:  Medical insurance.  I get about 8 medical statements a month showing what my insurance has paid for.  Without it, I would either be in financial distress or a lot sicker than I am today.  I feel grateful every single day to have the coverage I have to be able to receive the treatments and care that I need to function.

November 5: Living in a country where we have the privilege to vote!

November 6: My teaching partner, Zondra.  She has been there ever since I became sick, and has truly become an angel to me these last three years.  I will forever be thankful for her help, expertise, understanding, sense of humor, flexibility, and the beautiful and kind person that she is.

November 7:  My close friends, colleagues, and supportive parents who are all a part of my Wexford family.

November 8:  Music. It is so often my therapy and comfort when I am struggling.  Music makes life so much better.  I was reminded of this on Thursday when I was taking in the experience of the Madonna concert.  There is something magical about live music…I can’t think of many other things that make me feel as alive and in the moment.

November 9: Prolotherapy.  Boy, does it hurt, and it’s expensive, but so far it has helped keep me from needing a C1-C2 fusion, and out of my neck brace and back brace.  I am EXTREMELY thankful for that.
