Five For Friday 1/25/13

Spread the love

1.  Medical Stuff:

  • 1 Day of PT.  Reformer and manipulative medicine on my hip. It always flares up when I overdo it on the treadmill.
  • 2 Days of Home Rehab.
  • I battled gastroparesis most of the week, which meant a lot of soup, water, and applesauce, but by Thursday my stomach was feeling almost back to normal.
  • I had my 6 month cleaning at the dentist.  31 and still no cavities!  (Hopefully I didn’t just jinx myself).

2.  I met my new co-teacher, Ms. Sarah, this past week.  She is from England, has a lot of early childhood experience, teaches pre-school in Wacousta each morning, and seems really excited and eager to jump right in.  Monday is the first day of the second semester, which also marks Ms. Sarah’s first day teaching in the afternoon.  Let this new chapter begin!

3.  I feel like a broken record these last few weeks, but my life has pretty much consisted of school, rest, PT, and benefit planning.  I have a feeling it will stay this way until after the benefit in April.  We had some exciting developments happen this week on the benefit front.  I had a really productive meeting on Friday at our venue, the Kellogg Center.  We also received another generous sponsorship commitment, some new sponsorship leads, a few more silent auction donations came in the mail, and some more of my foundation paperwork is ready to be submitted.  I love the feeling that we are moving forward. Let me just add that this stuff is getting done with an amazing team of people. Like my colleague, Angie always tells me, “Teamwork makes the dream work.”  So true.

4.  I went to the MSU/Ohio State BB game last Saturday. What an exciting game to be at! It got even better when MSU beat Wisconsin on Tuesday.  I think I *strongly dislike* Wisconsin BB more than U of M BB.  There.  I said it.

The girls at the game!

The girls at the game.

5.  As life seems to fly by at a crazy pace, I always try to keep this quote in the back of my mind…

Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so.” ~Mary Jean Iron

I would get it tattooed if it wasn’t so long.

(Sorry, Mom).
