Just a "zebra" trying my best to live life to the fullest with EDS and POTS...and loving the ride.

Saturday Night Ramblings

Here goes some randomness, since that is how my brain has been operating lately…

We just got back from Home Depot.  I hate that store.  Everything about it says to me, “You’re house is about to be torn up” and reminds me that I am truly a grown up.  We picked out a sink, counter tops, and a faucet.  Who knew Granite was cheaper than Silestone?  Not this girl, but the sales dude looked at me like I had two heads.  I especially hate the fluorescent lights in that store.  They make me feel sick.  Have I mentioned that I hate Home Depot?  I am super excited for the Olympics; especially since Jordyn Wieber is on track to make the Olympic team.  She trains with my former coaches at the gym where I did gymnastics.  I am feeling some serious Lansing, Twistars Gymnastics pride.  I wrote two papers the last two days.  It finally dawned on me why I am struggling with this class.  I figured out that I do better when I have a real person in front of me teaching…I don’t think I am cut out for the online class thing, although I will say that it is nice to go to class in my PJ’s.  I am loving the slower pace of life I have been experiencing lately.  I have more energy and have been able to work on projects I have put off all school year…like cleaning out my closet, to make more room to go shopping.  Just joking, Brad.  Kinda. Sorta.  Speaking of Brad, he is his usual “kid in a candy store” self, on this eve of Michigan State Basketball camps.  You know what that means?  I’m on my own for the next two weeks as he lives out his coaching dream for another year…Projects, projects, and more house projects for me…with homework, meeting up with friends, rehab, and trips to the pool thrown in there.  I would love suggestions for some summer reading.  Anyone?  Feel free to throw them out there.  I wish I was in Philly with my parents, sister, brother-in-law, and CeCe baby.  I have Skyped them twice today.  I can’t get enough of that little nugget.  Thank God for Skype.  Without it, I would not have been able to join her pizza party with Nama Nama and Tapa, while Kristen and Jake enjoyed a rare date night.  I have been eating too much ice cream lately.  Not good, not good at all; especially for my joints.  Ice cream is definitely one of my summer weaknesses.  I must find my willpower, especially since bathing suit season is among us.  Brad asked me today if it is possible to develop ADHD as an adult.  I think he is a tad bit worried about me.  Is it possible?  For some reason, I love that frickin’ Gotye song, “Somebody that I used to Know”  I try to get people to sing the boy parts but no one ever obliges so I end up singing both the girl AND the boy parts.  I think it’s more fun that way, anyways.  I have realized that my latest celebrity crushes are all older men; Matt Lauer, Anderson Cooper, Nigel Lythgoe, George Clooney…I know, I know…weird.  Speaking of Nigel, every time I watch “So You Think I can Dance,” I get this major urge to take a dance class.  I took it one step further and looked up adult classes in my area today.  We will see.  I keep telling myself  life is short and to just take the plunge.  Someone told me last week that I need to just suck it up and teach full time.  While that is my hope, I told this person, that I wish it were that easy.  Although I feel like I have come a long way, I still see such a need for EDS and POTS awareness.  Three things I cannot wait for this summer: Our Tawas family vacation.  Working out with Dr. Lavallee.  Seeing as many bands as I can live including Yonder Mountain String Band, Steppin’ In It, and DMB.  I’m also working on Counting Crows.  I am thinking about doing another giveaway.  It has been a while.  I also have a few exciting website projects I will be working on with my web designer this summer.  Have I mentioned yet that Allie and I will be hosting the 2nd annual Invisible Illness Benefit on Saturday, April 13, 2013?!  Save the date!   Finally, I am thankful I have been sleeping again.  It definitely makes for a much more pleasant Katie.

Follow all that? I’m impressed if you did.
