Five For Friday 12/20/19, 12/27/19, & 1/3/20

The holidays put me wayyy behind!

1. Medical Stuff:

  • I had three weeks off of PT. THEN, I received a letter that my PT will no longer be covered because some doctor who I have never met read a few notes from my file and determined I can do a home program. Gah. GAH. GAHHHHHH. I am currently fighting this and have my medical team fighting along with me. I will update when I can on the outcome. Sidenote: There are not many things that get me this worked up than insurance issues. The system is so messed up.
  • One shrink appointment. Getting my head on straight heading into 2020. Med management too.
  • I did not do too well with home rehabbing over the holidays. I got in 3, maybe 4 sessions in the last few weeks.  Oof. Back on the wagon now.
  • I’m probably forgetting something since it’s been three weeks but I’m too tired to get up and look. Anyone else just want a nap?

Five For Friday 10/11/19 & 10/18/19

1. Medical Stuff:

  • Two sessions of PT. I think I’m at a point where I’m ready to increase intensity. I love the feeling of progress.
  • Two days of home rehab. I’m trying each time to beat my time on the treadmill. A bit of friendly competition with myself.
  • One shrink appointment = one deeper breath after.
  • Back to infusions! Had my first one in a while. I always marvel at how needed it must have been when I get two liters, and don’t pee for hours afterwards.
  • Flu shot!

Five For Friday 8/23/19

1. Medical Stuff:

  • Two sessions of PT. Started a few new strengthening exercises for my glutes and hip. We are realizing that if we release (through OMT) my hip flexor area, glute, and tightness down my leg, my hip feels better.
  • Two days of Home Rehab. Interval run/walks. Three rounds of 10 different strengthening exercises. I will find my abs again. I will.
  • Week 3 of the Postpartum challenge. Down 7 pounds.

Five for Friday 3/29/19 & 4/5/19

1. Medical Stuff:

  • One PT. Strengthening. Cardio. OMT. Electrical Stim & Heat. We talked about different ways to hold Lucia so my ribs don’t flare up.
  • Two Days of Home Rehab.
  • Prolotherapy! I made it back to Indiana after 15 months, a pregnancy, and a hard labor. So grateful for this treatment that has saved me from many major surgeries so far. We did my hips, pelvic area, shoulder, thoracic and first few ribs. I’ll go back in a couple of months for my neck. In the next few days, I lay low and love up my heating pad.
  • I saw my shrink on Monday. We covered a lot in that hour. And guess what? Healing is not linear.

Five For Friday 2/1/19 & 2/8/19

Yes, two in one again…this is Motherhood. This may be the reality for a while…because when I’m not loving on sweet Lucia, I’m running around the house taking care of other things…and when I get a moment, I just want to sleep…blogging is just not at the top of the list right now.

1. Medical Stuff:

  • I made time to see my shrink. Non-negotiable. If I don’t work on keeping my cup full, I will not be able to be the mother I want to be.
  • Still working on the shock of crazy sleep deprivation on my system. Thank God for an amazing husband, and family who lets me nap once in a while.
  • Working on incorporating therapy right now. It’s really, really hard. Like I said, when there is me time right now, I just want to rest.
