Five For Friday +5 4/21/12

Written by Katie. Posted in Five For Friday

Hello, blog.  Remember me?  It’s Katie.  I have missed you so.

I cannot believe that I have not posted anything since April 8.  That is a record.  It is definitely time for me to catch up on some writing therapy.

I am pretty sad to say that I missed my first “Five For Friday” since I started my blog a year and a half ago :(   I am trying to be kind to myself but it irks me and my OCD personality.

So, I am going to do a “+5″ on this one to try to catch myself, and all of you up.

1.  Medical Stuff:

  • 1 Day of PT.
  • 1 Day of Home Rehab.  My hip has calmed down quite a bit.  Knock on wood.
  • I had my monthly appointment with Larry today.  I had a lot of OMM done on my back, hip, neck, and jaw.  I also had to suck down a packet of soy sauce to try to raise my blood pressure [GAG ME].  You should have seen the nurse’s face when she read my blood pressure on the machine (70/40).  I learned today that apparently that BP reading is quite worrisome.  No wonder I had a major headache, felt like a space cadet, and was seeing spots.  I must start monitoring it more regularly.

1.  Medical Stuff:

  • 3 Days of Home Rehab: Treadmill walking at an incline and strengthening.
  • I had my monthly check-up with Larry.
  • Today was my 11th (I think) prolotherapy appointment.  It was an eventful one full of hip, rib, neck, and scap injections, paired with a reaction to the numbing medication.  Fun times.

1.  Medical Stuff:

  • I had my monthly Larry appointment.  He did a lot of gentle manipulations; mostly on my neck.  The OA release he does is like magic.
  • I had my annual asthma check-up with Dr. Rawsthorne.  Everything checked out well.  My breathing tests looked great.  The plan?  Continue with Advair, Singulair, my rescue inhaler, and my nebulizer machine for emergencies.
  • 3 Days of Home Rehab.
  • My blood pressure has been a major roller coaster lately.  One minute it is normal, the next minute it is super low, the next minute, the machine can’t find it…I guess that’s Dysautonomia for you.  I am starting to get good at recognizing when I have fluctuations.  When it drops, I get really tired and have a hard time thinking and forming words.  This issue is on my list to discuss with Bev when I see her and Dr. Grubb at the end of January.

Five For Friday +1 12/17/11

Whew!  I feel like I can finally breathe again.  The past two weeks have been the hardest, most demanding weeks I’ve had since returning to work. But I fought through it and survived.  And I am proud of that.

Vacation may now commence.

1.  Medical Stuff:

  • I had my December appointment with Larry.  He put four of my subluxed ribs back into place and did a lot of gentle neck manipulations.  He agreed that I may really benefit from regular cranio-cervical therapy and referred me to a doctor in Holt for weekly OMM.  December 22nd is my first appointment.  Fingers crossed.
  • I had two gyno appointments.
  • 1 Day of PT.
  • 2 Days of Home Rehab.
  • I scheduled my Dr. Grubb follow-up appointment for January in Toledo.  Now I just need to schedule my Dr. Lavallee, EDS follow-up for January too.
