Five For Friday 8/23/13

1. Medical Stuff:

  • 4 Days of Home Rehab. Lots of treadmill, and floor work (joint strengthening).
  • I saw Larry on Tuesday for OMM and our monthly office date.  He told me I am going back to good ol’ Physical Therapy in September.  I told him I was managing pretty well on my own, but he reminded me of the shock my body is about to undergo with going back to school.  Knowing he was right, I just smiled and said, “Yes, Larry.”
  • It was a stupid insomnia week.  There’s not much I hate in this world, but not being able to sleep is definitely one of them.

1. Medical Stuff:

  • I saw my OMM doctor this week, which was extremely needed. When all was said and done, I had 6 ribs put back into place, my OA joint in my neck was released, and my sacrum was put back into place. I would be in rough shape without my frequent OMM visits.
  • Talk about being in rough shape without certain doctors. I would be pretty lost without my psychiatrist, Dr. Rosen. We are going on 15 years together, and he has gone through every trial and triumph with me through the years (The good, the bad, and the UGLY). I saw Dr. Rosen on Thursday which was timely said I had a major case of the “all my siblings are far away again” blues. I always explain leaving my visits with him as being able to breathe in and out with clarity. I firmly believe that your body can’t be healthy if your mind is not.
  • I am currently taking a month off of PT to see how I do on my own.
  • 2 Days of Home Rehab. That number should be higher.

1.  Medical Stuff:

  • Since we were on vacation all week, I was on my own with all of my physical therapy.  There were no treadmills, ellipticals, balance boards, free weights, weight machines, Reformers, leg springs, or foam rollers so I had to get creative.  One day I walked three miles and did all of my floor work on the dock.  Another day, I blasted music on the deck and pretty much jumped around for 45 minutes, running the stairs and doing a mix of aerobics and kickboxing.  When it was time for free weights, I filled the two giant water guns and lifted those.  Two other days I did paddle boarding for the first time. I was really nervous, but I ended up loving it and my muscles were super SORE afterwards.

The Reveal

One of Allie and my projects for the summer was to turn my train wreck of a basement into the Life as a Zebra office.

If you had gone into my basement two weeks ago, you most likely would have gotten swallowed up into one of the many black holes, never to be seen again.
