Five For Friday 2/26/16

1. Medical Stuff:

  • 1 Day of PT. I started more scap firing exercises, plus cardio, plus OMM!
  • 1 Day of Home Rehab. Treadmill at a high incline, light weights, light stretching.
  • I was supposed to go back to Mishawaka on Thursday to see the new doc I was referred to for head, neck, and jaw pain. Well, with the snow storm that hit us, that did not happen. I am now supposed to go March 11. Fingers crossed.
  • POTS insomnia has hit! Gah. It is one of the worst things in my opinion about POTS. I know enough now that it is a matter of riding it out…

1. Medical Stuff:

  • 2 Days of Home Rehab.
  • This was a struggle week with my ribs and pain. I got into the doctor as an “emergency” on Friday because I was in so much pain from my ribs being subluxed. After a lot of manipulation, 4 trigger point injections, ear acupuncture, and having to do a colon cleanse because my gastroparesis had flared, it was decided it was best I rest for the weekend. This meant no Life as a Zebra Foundation, “Team Zebra” 5k the next day…I cried and then moved on into acceptance mode. I knew in my heart that this was an instance when I needed to listen to the docs who were trying to help me!

1. Medical Stuff:

  • 1 Day of PT. I was HURTING. I may or may not have cried some. My neck and ribs were really out of whack so my therapist spent the time doing gentle manipulations to try and get them back into place. She also used kinesio tape to tape my neck to take some of the strain off of it.
  • 2 Days of Home Rehab. It was a “wear my neck brace while on the treadmill” week. Like I said last week, I think it is time for more prolotherapy.
  • I had my echo that Dr. Grubb ordered a month ago. He likes to have EDS patients checked every two years, mainly for mitral valve prolapse. So far, no news. I figure no news is good news.

1. Medical Stuff:

  • 2 Days of Home Rehab.
  • I was supposed to have PT on Tuesday but when I showed up, I was told to go home due to having a fever and a sinus infection.
  • I saw Larry on Tuesday before my scheduled therapy appointment. I had been feeling yucky so when the nurse told me I had a fever, I was not surprised. In addition to having the usual cranial and back OMM, Larry also wrote me a prescription to take care of my sinus infection. I am happy to say I am feeling much, MUCH better now.

1. Medical Stuff:

  • 1 Day of PT. My PT has a new student working with her for the next ten weeks so I did a lot of explaining about everything that is EDS and POTS.
  • 2 Days of Home Rehab.
  • I slept better all week. Dear Sleep Gods, please let it continue.
  • I have noticed that this extreme cold we are experiencing has been wreaking some havoc on my joints and circulation. Spring can come anytime…I’d even take 15 degrees at this point.
