Fatigue, School, and some Randoms Mixed In

Written by Katie. Posted in Random, Teaching

I feel like I’m in a blog slump.  I’m pretty sure it has to do with energy, or my lack thereof lately.   I’ve been sleeping like a fool lately when I get home from school.  I walk in the door.  I rehab.  And then this tiredness hits me like a brick.  It’s a tiredness that I’ve never experienced before this year of sickness.  In fact, I wish there was another word for it because I feel like “tired” or even “fatigue” does not do it justice.

Five For Friday 9/23/11

Written by Katie. Posted in Five For Friday

Can you believe it?  It is actually Friday and I am posting.  Too bad work, therapy, being sick, and prolotherapy pretty much cover my week.  I’ll try my best to think outside of the box…

1.  Medical Stuff:

  • 3 Days of Home Rehab.
  • 1 Day of PT.  I was on the Reformer for most of the session.
  • I went to Urgent Care on Sunday.  I ended up having an ear infection, sinus infection, and fever.  Thank God for antibiotics, and that my heart rate and blood pressure decided to check out “normalish” at the appointment.
  • I had my eighth round of prolotherapy today in Mishawaka.  I’m hurtin’ now, but “this too shall pass.” More on my appointment soon.

Five For Friday 9/17/11 +1

Written by Katie. Posted in Five For Friday

I’m starting to think that maybe I should just re-name this “Six for Saturday.”  Hopefully next week, I will actually be able to post on Friday.

1.  Medical Stuff:

  • 3 Days of Home Rehab (I did much better on the rehab front this week, and low and behold, my pain level went down).
  • 1 session of PT.  I spent most of the time on the Reformer.  I am thankful Katie did not ease up on me (after the fact).  As I walked in looking like one tired, dragging, hot mess, I believe her quote was, “On the Reformer, you’ll love me later.”
  • I had my monthly appointment with Larry (Sports Med doc/captain of my medical team).  He worked hard at putting my lower ribs back into place.  He also did some gentle neck manipulations.   The best part of the appointment?  We did not have to fill out any paperwork, or come up with any kind of life plan BECAUSE I am now living out all of the planning we did together throughout the past year.  It’s pretty amazing to see that all of our planning paid off.  The second best part?  Larry was beaming with pride that I am working again.  Last year at this time we both thought that working was not going to be possible for me anymore.  Thank GOD for him and my medical team.  I am so blessed.
