1. Medical Stuff:

  • One day of PT. It felt good to be back, and for my therapist to get everything back in place for me again.
  • 2 Days of Home Rehab. Lots of walking/running outside when it was not raining this week. So. Much. Rain. I had to get creative!
  • I am going to include this one here, because for me, it is important for my …mind…body…health. I have felt overwhelmed with a lot of things going on the last couple of months, so on my way home from school, I ended up turning around and driving to church to sit. And think. And talk to the Boss. Such a great way (for me) to feel some peace and feel centered.  I am talking spiritual health, which actually has nothing to do with religion for me.

2. WATER. RAIN. FLOODING. OH MY.

Brad has to stay home Tuesday and Wednesday morning just to keep our basement under control. This has NEVER happened. He has had very little sleep this week.

Then, my parent’s basement flooded for the first time in history. So, my brother from another mother and his friend made a Mcgyver contraption for them. Here’s what they did…Ready for this?!

They attached my Grandpa Dudley’s suspenders to the ceiling, and also  attached the suspenders to the sump pump to keep it from falling over. They put the sump pump in a 10 gallon bucket, with a hose attached to the sump pump with gorilla tape, and then they made the hose go out the dryer vent, into the driveway to drain the water. They put a 15 dollar mini pump in the drain with a hose going into the 10 gallon bucket, and when the 10 gallon bucket filled, the sump pump turned on, and pumped the water out of the dryer vent. Whew. Still blows my mind.

Side note: My Grandpa Dudley has been dead for 28 years, but he’s still helping us.

3. I am now knee deep into the Ketogenic diet. It is interesting because cutting the carbs is now not hard at all. What’s hard is keeping my protein at a moderate level, instead of a high level. I have been experimenting with fat bombs, more good oils, and avocados. I think I am starting to get the hang of it. I think…: )
4. A classroom funny this week:
We had university teaching students from Japan visit us Friday morning. They did a short presentation on Japan’s New Year’s traditions for our kiddos. At question time, one of my littles raises his hands and says, “that sounds super cool to get money and eat rice, but don’t you guys put on glow necklaces, glow bracelets, turn off the lights, and just rock out?”
You should have seen their faces. I keep thinking about it and laughing out loud like a weirdo. I love Kindergarten.
